We have devised two sill replacement systems.
VP8 FULL FACTORY STYLE SILL SYSTEM (3pcs): This
system was conceived for cars with more rust than sill left.
Included is a 16 Gauge triangular box section with cut outs to save weight,
with a reinforced seat belt lug welded in, and drainage flutes. This piece replaces
the factory inner and middle sills. It has the correct taper at the front to
fit under the door and behind the fender, and will fit inside the original top
sill if needed.
The second piece is the top sill (VP7) which runs from the front of the
rear quarter to just beyond the front of the door. It's made from 18 Gauge steel
and has the correct curves to be able fit under the door.
The third piece is the rocker panel (outer skin, VP2) made from 20 Gauge
Satin Coat steel. It has the correct curves, including the mild lengthwise radius.
Each end has a small step in it, like the original so it will slide behind the
front of the rear quarter, and the back of the front fender without interference.
VP9 SILL REPAIR KIT (3pcs): This kit is made
for cars with problems in the lower half of the sill only. It's a much smaller
bit of surgery than changing the entire sill system.
Included is a half inner sill which runs the entire length of the original
sill, but is only 3" tall. The idea being that the lower half of the original
sill be cut out and this one gets either butted up against the remainder of
it, or rosette welded to it. It also has drain flutes.
The second piece is the half middle sill which follows the contour of
the factory sill from end to and is half the height. It has round cut outs which
fit around the exterior of the raised factory ones. It also has drain cut outs.
The third piece is the same rocker (VP2) as described above.
